SUMMARY:Women's Resource Centre CEDAW Consultation event
DESCRIPTION:A unique opportunity to get involved in a United Nations initiative. \nJoin the Women’s Resource Centre team led by Sue Robson for an in-person CEDAW event in Northumberland. CEDAW is the Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women. You will have the chance to contribute to the civil society report (List of Issues) we are submitting to the CEDAW Committee. This event is open to all women\, women’s organisations\, and allies who have a common goal of advancing equality and human rights for women and girls. \nRegister here \nWhat is CEDAW? \nThe Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)\, adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly\, is often described as an international bill of rights for women. Consisting of a preamble and 30 articles\, it defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets up an agenda for national action to end such discrimination. \ncedaw.iwraw-ap.org/#
