SUMMARY:My Best Me Part 2: Building Confidence
DESCRIPTION:Confidence isn’t global and it isn’t fixed come along and explore your confidence and how to develop it. \n\n\n\nHow many times have you said\, “I don’t have the confidence to do that” or “I’m just not a confident person”? Both are negative statements that virtually rule out the possibility of change\, but change IS possible. \nConfidence isn’t global and it isn’t fixed; no one is 100% confident about absolutely everything\, all the time (no matter how it might look from the outside). Confidence isn’t about our actual ability to succeed; it’s about our belief in your ability to succeed. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll learn what confidence is (and what it isn’t)\, and why we don’t always recognise things that we are confident about. \nThis workshop follows on from our Building Self Esteem workshop\, if you didn’t attend the previous session there’s some overlap and a recap. \nRegister on Eventbrite here

SUMMARY:Bouncing Forward: Developing a Resilient Approach
DESCRIPTION:Resilience is not ‘carrying on regardless’\, or ‘growing a thick skin’. Come along and find out what it is and how to develop yours. \n\n\n\n\nDo you often feel overwhelmed in the face of unexpectedly negative or challenging situations or people? Is your first instinct to run away and hide? Or is it to carry on regardless\, burning yourself out in the process? Do you give in to excessive displays of emotion? Or do you bottle everything up or push it down? \nAny or all of these strategies may appear to offer a solution in the short term\, but over time\, they become destructive. A healthier\, more sustainable\, and more effective way to manage such situations is to develop a resilient approach\, but what do we mean by resilience? \nContrary to popular belief\, resilience is not ‘carrying on regardless’\, ‘turning the other cheek’\, ‘turning a blind eye’\, or ‘growing a thick skin’. These behaviours are more like ‘chronic endurance’\, and they are neither healthy nor sustainable. \nWe sometimes hear resilience described as our ability to ‘bounce back’\, but why would we want to ‘bounce back’ to where we were? We need to bounce back and move forward so that we don’t find ourselves continually firefighting against the same challenges. \nIn this session\, we’ll explore what resilience is and what it isn’t\, and we’ll discuss some strategies to help build resilience whilst maintaining boundaries and protecting our energy and wellbeing. Your resilience isn’t someone else’s doormat! \nRegister on Eventbrite here

SUMMARY:Self-Sabotage: Ditching Behaviours that Hold Us Back
DESCRIPTION:People-pleasing\, perfectionism and procrastination are three forms of self sabotage we will explore these and more positive alternatives \n\n\n\n\nStopping Self-Sabotage: Ditching the behaviours that hold us back. \nDo you try hard to please other people\, often at your own expense? Do you set yourself unrealistic goals and criticise yourself when you don’t achieve them? Do you have an overwhelming feeling that you don’t deserve your success\, that you are about to be ‘found out’ and exposed as a fraud? Do you often delay important tasks in favour of others that are neither important nor urgent? Is the gremlin on your shoulder constantly telling you that you are useless and worthless? \nIf you answered ‘Yes!’ to any or all these questions\, you’re not alone\, and you’re definitely not useless or worthless but you might have adopted some coping strategies that aren’t as helpful as they initially seemed. \nPeople-pleasing\, perfectionism and procrastination are just three such ‘strategies’ that crop up time and time again in discussions about self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviours. We can fall foul of any or all of them\, either independently\, or combined in a toxic cocktail. \nIn this session we’ll explore these behaviours\, considering what they are\, which ones we might ‘prefer’\, and why and how we get caught up in them. We’ll look at their limitations\, but we’ll do so kindly – there are reasons why we use them\, and they may even be helpful in the short term\, but sooner or later they stack up their own problems. We’ll identify some more useful alternatives so that we can get out of our own way! \nRegister on Eventbrite here
