She’s Ready is Here

PRESS RELEASE 4/1/2022
She’s Ready, looks to scale
She’s Ready, a female volunteering and empowerment programme that started its life in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, is joining with Amble’s Women’s Workshop to pilot the programme in North Northumberland, starting in January 2022.
The award winning She’s Ready programme was the brainchild of Lisa Wright & Sarah Potts at Active Life for A Healthier You, a physical activity community interest company based in Essex. After seeing and hearing how women felt about volunteering, physical activity and social action, the team at Active Life set about developing this woman led programme. After a successful 3 years of running the programme locally, and with funding from Sport England and support from Spring Impact, a global leader in social replication, Active Life for a Healthier You were able to develop a national programme for the market.
5 Active Partnerships (Active Essex, Active Gloucester, Get Berkshire Active, RISE and North Yorkshire) have supported the team at She’s Ready to identify local organisations in their areas to be part of the pilot and access a small pot of funding to help support an activation programme.
Lisa Wright, She’s Ready Programme Manager tells us, ‘She’s Ready is a powerful movement where we are supporting women to start their own revolution in getting active. With our help these women are creating a community of revolutionists that are physically active, empowered to help others and be the best version of themselves. We are unapologetically loud and proud; we know the power of the She’s Ready team members and truly believe that activity, in one form or another, is achievable for EVERYONE’.
Julia Lyford, Coordinator of the Women’s Workshop, which supports women facing extra challenges across North Northumberland, says
“She’s Ready’ fits so well with what we do. In 2021 we have been using the cycles of the environment and women’s bodies to explore how we fit in the world, and this has included outdoor sessions and trips, plus yoga, gentle exercise and walks, and all kinds of opportunities for volunteering. We would love to extend the ways in which we use physical activity to foster well-being, and to share ideas and social action projects with other groups of women.”
The pilot will start in January 2022, and we encourage all women in North Northumberland to sign up via www.shesready.co.uk or contact us at admin@womensworkshop.net . The pilot programme is working with 9 organisations across England to support and develop a strong, empowered female social and physical action programme, so why not join in!
