#16Days

As part of the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence you are invited to join us to discuss: What next for women?
After it was reported by the UN (2020) that the social and economic impacts of the pandemic fell harder on women than men alongside the murders of women such as Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa, we want to raise awareness, take action and amplify the voices of women from across the North East.
Women’s Workshop & Workie Ticket Theatre present:
The premiere screening of Workie Ticket Theatre’s new short film ‘Her Primal Scream’ which has been created using verbatim material from interviews and survey responses, images and film footage submitted to Workie Ticket by women from across the North East. The film was produced as part of the Womxn Up? project in collaboration with film-maker Michelle Fox and is performed by Wambui Hardcastle, Jacqueline Phillips and Ashlea Sanderson. This will follow a short panel discussion about the impact of the pandemic on women.
A reading of the short play; ‘I Walk the Line’ by JoJo Kirtley. Read by Ashlea Sanderson. Based on the true-life experiences of domestic abuse.
A performance of ‘Savage Daughters’: A dynamic performance by the women involved in our drama project, about the cycles of a woman’s body. From menstruation to menopause, motherhood and moon syncing.
A ‘make your own ribbon’ craft workshop to support #16Days
Cake will be provided!
All Welcome.
