Environmental activities & Green Skills @ the Women’s Workshop
At this session we’ll be having a cuppa and a chat, staying warm, and planning what edibles to grow in the coming year.
Come along on Wednesdays and join in weekly projects and activities that will help to increase your confidence, skills, knowledge, and social connections. A snippet of what’s coming up this year:
– Willow weaving projects
– Wildflower meadow management, monitoring, and recording (small areas)
– Sowing seeds to grow vegetables and beneficial flowers
– Creating an herbaceous flower bed to support bees and butterflies
– Gain horticulture knowledge and skills, learn to garden without impacting the environment -organic, no dig, using natural materials, re-using, recycling, composting and more.
– Woodworking projects: bee hotels, wildflower/herb boxes, bird boxes, hedgehog house (? DIY)
– Environmental crafts using flowers and herbs from the garden
– Collecting seeds and drying to use in products to raise money for the garden on our Heritage stall and green fairs.
– Creating a water feature, rain garden/creek
– Re-using an old boat to make an alpine garden
– We’re also completing projects such as the Strawbale building and outdoor kitchen and additional work on the Workshop.
