A special event for IWD, launching our involvement in a new drama based project, Geordie Gaol Girls with Workie Ticket Theatre Company, and looking at what’s changed for women in the justice system.

“Workie Ticket Theatre invites you to take part in the Geordie Gaol Girls project—an exciting opportunity to explore the forgotten stories of the women imprisoned in Newcastle Gaol and the staff who worked there.

Join us for an Information Day on 10th March at 1pm to learn more about the project, upcoming workshops, and how you can get involved. We’ll also discuss how women’s experiences in the justice system have changed—or remained the same—over time.

Following this session, participants can join weekly creative workshops every Tuesday from 18^th March, using drama, storytelling and writing to bring these histories to life. As part of this process, you’ll help develop a character who will become one of the main figures in the final immersive play. You will even get the chance to meet your character as they come to life, performed by a professional actor!
