Stepping Out of Winter

Imbolc marks the first turning point of the year, when the Cailleach, the crone of winter loosens her grip, and hands over to Brigid, with the first signs of spring.
This festival has been celebrated with crosses made of straw, rushes, or rowan twigs tied with red thread, as symbols of protection and good fortune. Another tradition is to weave a “Brigid’s Girdle’, a circular rope of straw or rushes, long enough to step through.
Together we will make a rope and have the opportunity to step through it to welcome the new season.
Doing so is said to make the coming year seven times better than before!
Anna will lead the session and help us look back over the year and the tree calendar we’ve been following. We’ll end with some thoughts for the year ahead and with a fire and some shared food.
